All the Best Disney Films Were Made Before I Was Born! (Part II: #20-11)

If you didn’t throw up your hands in disgust and give up on me as a Disney fan when I ranked some of the classics at the lowest part of my list, then these are the middle 10 of my Top 30 Disney Live Action and Animated Movies (from before I was born in 1983).

#20: The Absent-Minded Professor (1961) – Who else thinks that Flubber would be really fun to play with?

#19: The Three Caballeros (1944) – I have to admit that I love this movie simply because of the ride in Mexico in EPCOT. That is the most often played song from “Four Parks, One World” on my iPod!

#18: The Shaggy Dog (1959) – A man turns into a dog. I've always looked at Sprinkles and thought he's got an awesome life.

#17: The Fox and the Hound (1981) - A fox cub and a puppy are besties? How cute is that? I know some of you are saying, “not as cute as a baby deer named Bambi!” but I disagree.

#16: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) – This movie brought us Eeyore, the perpetually depressed but much adored donkey, and Rabbit, the OCD gardening bunny! How could you not love that? Besides, as a teen I identified with Eeyore (without the weird always losing my tail thing).

#15: The Rescuers (1977) – Mice on a bird in a sardine can. Do I have to say more?

#14: Cinderella (1950) – If you know me well, you know it’s not Cinderella that makes this movie for me. It’s the Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters. They are hilarious! Also if you've hung around me enough, you might have heard me burst out in song and sing the little known (but real) verse about mopping the ocean from the “Work Song”. Just ask and I’ll be happy to sing it for you. ;-)

#13: The Aristocats (1970) – Cats were my favorite childhood animal. I didn’t care what they were doing, but these cats were adorable!

#12: The Love Bug (1968) – I will forever love Herbie cars and see them in a different light thanks to this movie. My Herbie Vinylmation is one of my favorites because I remember LOVING watching these movies with my dad.

#11: One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) – Lots and lots of dogs! Yay! I loved the whole “Twilight Bark” where the dogs barked the message that the puppies were taken across the countryside. Ever since seeing that I’ve wondered what dogs were saying as they barked into the night.

Have I redeemed myself or are you still annoyed at the choices from my last post? Let me know in the comments section! Next post I'll finish up my Top 30 countdown. After that things get more interesting with the "after 1983" posts.

  1. Love that 101 Dalmatians gets #11, what number is more appropriate? But given 101 is my favorite and that I watched it yesterday I cannot disagree with this list. Also I agree with #30-21, overall I didn't like them.
